Here is something old,
my Dactyl from 1975.

This was a flying wing powered by a McCoy 61 petrol engine
converted to glow.
The elevon mixing was mechanical, no computer radios then.
The model flew round Colwick leaving a trail of exhaust
like a Red Arrow.
The Dactyl met it's end when the front wheel hit a bump
on takeoff causing a tip stall and cartwheel.
The motor I exchanged with Arthur Fox for a Merco 35
which went in a Piper Cub. Arthur intended to convert the McCoy back to
petrol.
This is proof I used to fly power models before I
discovered electric.

Here is something new for 2008
A Gonzales built from a QEFI magazine plan Sept' 07.

38" span flat plate wing balsa model powered by a speed 400
"inrunner" motor and taking 240 watts (1/3 horsepower) to drive a 5"X 5"
prop.
It will empty a 2100ma/hr battery in 5 minutes.
It will disappear upwards in a vertical climb in a few
seconds! The model article suggests a max speed of 100 mph.
